About Our Pharmacies
KentHealthClinics.co.uk is the weight management service of Mediclinic Pharmacies — two local, GPhC-registered community pharmacies serving Gillingham: Mediclinic Pharmacy on Watling Street and Phoenix Pharmacy in Wigmore. We run from the same premises you already know for NHS prescriptions.
A first consultation covers your history, current medicines, measurements, and what feels realistic and appropriate for you. If a different service is a better fit, we will say so and signpost you honestly.

Why It Matters
Body weight is regulated by hormones, appetite signalling, sleep, medication, and circumstance. Understanding what is driving weight gain is the first step in choosing a sensible approach.
The body responds to weight loss by increasing appetite signalling and reducing energy expenditure. This is normal physiology, not personal failure, and it is why maintenance needs as much planning as the loss itself.
Certain commonly prescribed medicines are associated with weight gain. A medication review is a reasonable first step and may be all that is needed.
Thyroid dysfunction, PCOS, and other conditions can affect weight. Screening for these comes before assuming a treatment is needed.

Treatment Options
There is no single right answer. Most people combine approaches, and what is appropriate depends on your starting point, your health, and what you are able to sustain.
Meet the Pharmacists
Choose the pharmacy that suits you. Every consultation is confidential and led by a GPhC-registered pharmacist.
Anisa leads confidential weight management consultations at our Phoenix Pharmacy site in Wigmore — a practical discussion grounded in a review of your health, current medicines, and goals.

Who Each Option Suits
UK guidance uses BMI alongside health conditions, ethnicity, and individual circumstance to decide which approaches are appropriate.
BMI opens the conversation, but it does not capture muscle mass, body composition, or your wider health. A consultation looks at the whole picture before anything is recommended.
UK guidance applies lower BMI thresholds for people from some ethnic backgrounds, because health risks can begin at a lower BMI. We take this into account when assessing suitability.
Conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnoea can change which options are appropriate — and sometimes make earlier intervention more important.
Some medical histories and current medicines mean certain treatments are not suitable. If that applies to you, we will say so and signpost you honestly to a better-fitting service.
